Our Mission

We intend to become the premier writer of professional liability insurance, with a focus on the large public and private companies in the U.S. and Canada. We bring over 40 years of combined underwriting experience and customer relationships in professional liability lines of insurance to the BerkleyPro enterprise. We intend to draw upon this expertise to provide world-class underwriting and claims handling service to our brokers and insureds.

Company Description

BerkleyPro is an underwriting management company, wholly owned by W. R. Berkley Corporation, which specializes in professional liability insurance (directors and officers liability, fiduciary liability, and employment practices liability) for publicly traded and private entities based in the U.S. and Canada. Founded in September 2008, its initial lines of coverage written will be Directors and Officers Liability, Fiduciary Liability, and Employment Practices coverages. Target customers will be large publicly-traded and private entities based in the U.S. Typically, these customers will have dedicated in-house risk management and treasury departments and/or use brokers with expertise in professional liability lines. BerkleyPro distributes its professional liability products to the marketplace through appointed and licensed independent agents and brokers throughout North America.

John R. Benedetto, BerkleyPro's President, has over 19 years of experience in the insurance and financial services industries. He previously served in senior positions with another major insurer.

Steven P. Walsh, Executive Vice President, has over 14 years of experience in the insurance and financial services industries. Prior to joining Berkley, he served in senior positions with another major insurer.

Paul A. Brophy, Senior Vice President, has over 15 years of experience in the insurance and financial services industries, serving previously in senior positions with another major insurer.
