Bill Murray joined Regional Excess Underwriters as President in June 2008. He was previously president of two other Berkley member companies, Carolina Casualty Insurance Company, which he ran for three years and Admiral Excess Underwriters, a W. R. Berkley member company, which he launched in 2003. He began his insurance career as an underwriter in 1986 after serving in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps.

Company Description
Regional Excess Underwriters is a full service excess and surplus lines brokerage positioned to enable Berkley appointed agents to write more business. REU offers convenience, competitive pricing and access to over 50 markets.
How Regional Excess Underwriters is Different
Regional Excess Underwriters does not take risk as do most W. R. Berkley member companies. Instead, we are a broker that serves the independent agents of W. R. Berkley. We place business both as a General Agent (GA) and as a broker. Furthermore, we place business with insurance carriers both outside and inside the W. R. Berkley group.
Whether it be a soft market or a hard market, we will respond in a timely and courteous manner at all times. All submissions are sent out promptly and a knowledgable staff is always available to help our agents with whatever they need.

Regional Excess Underwriters is licensed in all 50 states, and has surplus lines licensed in most states. Our business is distributed through the retail agents of W. R. Berkley.
