Company Description

W. R. Berkley Insurance (Europe), Limited was formed in July 2003 as a London-based FSA authorized insurer specializing primarily in casualty business. We have expanded our product offering to include professional indemnity (errors and omissions), directors’ and officers’ liability, medical malpractice, general liability, personal accident & travel and more recently engineering and construction.

Authorized to underwrite business in the United Kingdom and Spain, we are also passported to write in certain other European countries, and we underwrite risks in Australia and New Zealand. Wherever our customers are, we keep standards high by dealing only with appointed brokers who share our commitment to quality products and excellent customer service. In the United Kingdom, we underwrite both a London Market and Regional account. Our specialist teams have an in-depth knowledge of the regions and markets in which they operate, enabling them to offer a service that is as personal as it is professional. Our Spanish branch offices employ leading technical experts who work closely with our suppliers to find long-term solutions to our client needs. This breadth of expertise has enabled us to work with leading clients from every industry sector, from the legal and accounting professions through technology and manufacturing to medical and healthcare.

Professional Indemnity W. R. Berkley Insurance (Europe), Limited is known throughout the industry for the quality and breadth of its professional indemnity business. This is our main product line and we offer all classes of professional indemnity – whether traditional or new. Because we work with a variety of clients, we are able to offer a wide portfolio of policies. Our underwriters can provide a standard product or one that has been tailored to our client’s need. We write both primary and excess of loss business for organizations ranging from ‘one-man operations’ to multi-national corporations. We focus on building long-term relationships both with our clients and with our brokers. As well as helping us to understand our clients’ unique needs and how to meet them, this approach enables us to offer advice that protects reputations as well as balance sheets.

Directors’ & Officers’ Liability W. R. Berkley Insurance (Europe), Limited specializes in providing directors’ and officers’ liability insurance to the small to medium-sized company sector. We work with our regional and London-based broker contacts both directly and over an online trading platform. Either way we aim to offer an unrivalled level of service. Beyond our core small business account we are able to provide a customized service for larger or more unusual risks.

General Liability Available to a selected panel of Regional and London-based brokers, W. R. Berkley Insurance (Europe), Limited offers public and products liability coverage’s as a distinct and separate product line to its professional indemnity classes. Our liability product is focused on UK domiciled organizations whose principal requirements relate to the public and products liability exposure.

Medical Malpractice Our Spanish offices are rapidly becoming known as a leading provider of malpractice cover for risks such as doctors and private hospitals whilst in the UK we specialize more in non-invasive complementary, supplementary and ancillary medical risks.

Personal Accident & Travel We have a strong team that underwrites a book of business that adds to and complements our existing client base. Concentrating on general UK and European business, the team are also recognized as specialists in the field of sports related covers.

Engineering and Construction A new product in 2007, we have recruited a number of experienced market specialists to underwrite these highly technical classes on a world wide basis.
