Select Specialty Managers, formed in May, 2007, represents one of the newest W. R. Berkley Corporation, subsidiaries. We have assembled a team of experts in the field of hard-to-place Professional Liability and General Liability business. The current team has over 90 years of combined insurance industry experience with specific focus on Professional and General Liability. SSM will utilize individual risk underwriting, loss control and claims practices to provide superior products and services to its customers.

SSM clients will have access to a creative team of dedicated underwriters and the financial strength of W. R. Berkley Corporation, and The Nautilus Insurance Company. We will underwrite on behalf of Nautilus Insurance which carries an A.M. Best Financial Strength Rating of A+ (Superior) and a Financial Size Category of IX, as well as a Standard & Poor's Financial Strength Rating of A+ (Strong). By focusing on our specialty niches and partnering with a small distribution force SSM will be able to provide innovative and quick responses to solve the complex needs of our customers.
